Friendship with Israel and India?

The aim of the attack was to take back the territories that were occupied by Israel in 1967. America immediately came to the aid of Israel. The leadership of the former Soviet Union (Russia) forbade the US to intervene in the Middle East and the two superpowers came face to face.

Pakistan Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto sent PAF pilots to Egypt and Syria who shot down several Israeli warplanes. In the meantime, the United Nations established a ceasefire and the United States started peace talks in Israel and Egypt through the backdoor channel. A promise was made to Egypt that if it recognized Israel, the fate of the Egyptians would change.

However, instead of solving the Palestinian problem, attempts were made to weaken and isolate the Palestinians. After that, many Muslim countries, including Egypt, accepted Israel and other Muslim countries except Pakistan were given the same slogan that if you accept Israel, your destiny will change. Instead of solving the Palestinian issue, America and Israel started violating the UN resolutions on Palestine and forced the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) to negotiate with Israel.

The result was that the PLO was weakened and Hamas emerged. Fifty years later, in October 2023, Hamas has attacked Israel. This attack and its response is so severe that the world is once again divided into two camps. Some observers believe that the real purpose of this attack by Hamas is to sabotage a possible peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel.

A few days ago, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, addressing the United Nations General Assembly, waved a new Middle East map and said that the corridor of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Israel will connect Europe to Asia. But Netanyahu did not say anything promising for the Palestinians. After that, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen indicated that six or seven Muslim countries will recognize Israel very soon, after which a discussion started in Pakistan that if Saudi Arabia recognizes Israel, what will Pakistan do?

Pakistan's position regarding Israel is very clear that peace cannot be established in the Middle East without the solution of the Palestinian issue and Israel cannot be recognized until the Palestinian issue is resolved. In 1994, Ms. Benazir Bhutto and Yasar Arafat had a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland. In this meeting Yasir Arafat told Ms. Benazir Bhutto that we are being beaten and forced to negotiate with Israel.

After this meeting I had the opportunity to talk with Yasser Arafat and the next day in Davos with the Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres and I found out that not only external forces but also some internal forces were active to bring Pakistan and Israel closer. Yasser Arafat invited Ms. Benazir Bhutto to visit Gaza. The date of the visit was fixed on September 4, 1994. Ms. Benazir Bhutto was supposed to go to Gaza from Egypt's Rafah region, but Israel stopped her from coming here because it was adjacent to the occupied territory.

The visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan was cancelled. If not today, then tomorrow the fact will surely come out that after 1988 many elected Prime Ministers were pressured to recognize Israel. This pressure on Ms. Benazir Bhutto started in 1989, but she transferred the head of the secret agency that put the pressure. The result was that in 1990 he was dismissed on charges of corruption and in 1996 he was dismissed for involvement in extra-judicial killings.

General Pervez Musharraf had come very close to recognizing Israel, but the lawyers' movement of 2007 destroyed all his plans. In 2019, General Qamar Javed Bajwa advised Prime Minister Imran Khan to increase backdoor ties with

Israel. This is a matter that Imran Khan did not talk about openly, but at one point he must have said that Pakistan's policy on Israel will be the same as that of Quaid-i-Azam.

Quaid-i-Azam wrote a letter to American President Truman on December 8, 1947, calling the establishment of Israel a violation of the United Nations Charter and appealing to the American President to stop the partition of Palestine. Those who advise Pakistanis to blindly accept Israel do not know that the All India Muslim League leadership started supporting Palestine long before the creation of Pakistan.

In 1923, a delegation of Palestinians came to India and the Muslim League collected funds for the reconstruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Allama Iqbal visited Al-Aqsa Mosque on the invitation of Mufti Amin Al-Hussaini and later when Mufti Amin Al-Hussaini came to Pakistan, he supported the right of self-determination of Kashmiris. The last meeting of the All India Muslim League was held on 14 and 15 December 1947, in which the partition of Palestine was rejected. Since 1947, no political government except General Pervez Musharraf, a military dictator, has shown willingness to recognize Israel, but whenever Pakistan's economy is weak, Pakistan is pushed towards friendship with Israel using pretexts.

The question is, what reward did Egypt get for friendship with Israel? Egypt has been in political chaos since its friendship with Israel in 1979. President Anwar al-Sadat, who signed the friendship treaty, was assassinated. If Egypt does not get anything, what will Pakistan get? America and Israel should resolve the Palestinian issue in the light of UN resolutions. Without solving the Palestine problem, you should make friendship with Saudi Arabia and see the result will be the same as the friendship between Israel and Egypt. The lesson is that peace cannot be established in the Middle East without solving the Palestine problem and peace cannot be established in South Asia without solving the Kashmir problem. The real fun of playing a cricket match between Pakistan and India will come only after the resolution of the Kashmir issue.
